Flowing out of Lake Michigan east to Kalamazoo, the Kalamazoo River was used for waste removal and was polluted by paper mills until the 1960s, when strict guidelines were enforced. Fishing is not recommended on this river, as the species who have made a comeback contain PCBs. In the 1990s, this river was placed on the National Priorities List as one of the worst toxic dumps in the United States, and a fund was set up to clean it. Address: . . MI USA
