The dune ridges and valleys are mostly windblown sand and lack trees, scrub brush, and dune grass. The dune area is sometimes compared to a desert. Park features include, hunting, swimming, fishing, picnicking, hiking, boating, a lighthouse, off-road routes, and much more.
